The following is a conversation I just had via Twitter with a person who reviewed “Figs & Pomegranates & Special Cheeses.” The end result is permission to include the review here on my blog.

Mona: I’ve been reviewed on American Amazon and on British Amazon. I think this is the first time I’ve been reviewed on Indian (?) Amazon. Would it be OK with you if I posted your review on my blog where more people would see it? And am I right that it’s Indian? Thanks
Shraesta: You are right I’m an Indian. I’m honored if you post my review on your blog. Happy to have such an author. Loads and tonnes of love to you and your book.
This review is from: Figs & Pomegranates & Special Cheeses: A Love Story (Kindle Edition)

Aside from being pleased with this review and permission to repeat it here, I can’t help commenting on my admiration for people of different native languages who can read and enjoy in one not their own. Would that we Americans were so able.
And feel free to check out other reviews of “Figs & Pomegranates & Special Cheeses.”
i love how passionate she is about your book.may this be a great breakthrough to a large new audience
Oh Leelah. You are so wonderful — and so responsive. Thank you, friend!
That is wonderful, Mona! You could just feel the love for the book and you in her review. Love, Dottie
Dottie, you are the sweetest!
Such a delight to have such a lovely review from across the world! Congratulations. Now, how do you get people to read this book?
As you revel in this and delve further into your writing, the nation is coming apart. I knew living with Trump as President would be hard. I had no idea it would be this hard. Every day an assault or annihilation of everything I had come to believe was right. And still no response from his own party regarding the many scandalous issues that are being exposed just as regularly. Where will this lead? Eventually to nothing good, I imagine. I guess we just wait and hope there is something left of the things we have come to hold dear when the lid comes off.

As for the reviews, Nancy — yes, I am very sad that all the good reviews do nothing for sales. I would be happy if I could just earn back the expenses I put into publishing it. Truth be told, I look at the sales record every day after I’ve posted a review, and what I find is the same flat line. Truly disappointing.
As for the writing I’m doing now, it’s affected by your second point. Much time is lost, because II spend most of the morning responding to opportunities to sign petitions regarding what I care about. I believe they have power in keeping the resistance up front. I believe each of us has to do what we have the most energy and expertise for. And I remind myself, when I’m tempted to despair, that there are so many out there doing so much more than I do to keep our care alive for people in need — so many categories there, and keeping our earth — and therefore the people in it — healthy.
No, I’m not despairing. Not when I see what people are doing to counteract the admittedly powerful forces of destruction.
I’m going to try attaching a link here which is just one example of how acts that I consider cruel and destructive evoke positive responses not only in the US, but throughout the world. I think you’ll be able to copy and paste it to get to the goal.
Wow, this is a good one!Susan
Thanks for noticing
