I think the following quote from the Minnesota Psychological Association speaks for itself. As for me, I wonder when the rampant bias of all kinds will ever stop so I can go back to sleep at 3:00 a.m. (The underlined bold is my emphasis.)

The Minnesota Psychological Association supports the passage of the bill to ban conversion therapy. (SF1974/HF2281). The aim of conversion therapy (reparative therapy) is to treat sexual orientation, which is not a mental illness. There is evidence to support that efforts to change someone’s sexual orientation is harmful to the individual. The American Psychological Association task force on Appropriate Therapeutic Responses to Sexual Orientation analyzed the scientific data on changing sexual orientation and concluded that there is insufficient evidence that sexual orientation change efforts are effective and may cause harm. Mona, I couldn’t agree more. “Conversion” therapy is not therapy. It’s a conversion tactic that presumes the majority rules in matters of human sexuality. Methinks there’s something about the 90 percent that is threatened by the mere existence of the 10 percent. Need one say more? The minority needs the support and protection of the majority. Otherwise we live under the rule the tyranny of the majority.
Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. (even at 3:00 a.m.?)

We know someone well who was forced, by his evangelical mother with acquiescence from his (also evangelical) father, to undergo conversion therapy beginning when he was 13. It lasted 3-4 YEARS, and it devastated him. He begged his father to intercede with his mother and allow him to quit, and mercifully the father finally did. But he will never trust his mother again. Thankfully, he is doing great now.
It’s really sickening. And they call it Christian. Ugh!
