I confess, I’m pro-life. Therefore I’m pro-choice; pro Planned Parenthood; pro-gun control; anti-death penalty; pro habeas corpus; pro universal health care; pro caring for the environment; anti-war; pro-diplomacy; pro equalizing education opportunities; pro caring for our national and local infrastructure; pro Public Radio; pro being an informed voter; pro a rational and humane immigration policy. Also I’m pro separation of church and state; anti-torture; pro promoting the general welfare (see preamble to the constitution of the United States); pro equality for women; pro protecting the vulnerable, pro recognizing that “defense” and “war” are not synonyms.
Obviously I’m an idealistic dreamer. Still, I’d love to see the positions of all candidates for public office on health care, gun control. response to climate change, repairing the infrastructure, torture — i.e. all of the above. Hint: I don’t consider it a “position” to rant against the stance of one’s opponents no matter which side one is on.
OK. Tomorrow it’ll be back to business –Helping with Forgiveness Decisions.
Great post!
Thanks so much, Lacey, for reading the blog, and for your enthusiastic and positive comment.
I agree. It is very difficult to develop respect for and become committed to any candidate who is less able to outline his/her own strengths and priciples than to find fault with others. Presently, the campaign seems only to promise continued conflict and sand box impudence. “I hate you more” is not a promise on which to build a future.
Nancy, I love that, “I hate you more.” I mean, I don’t love the hate, but I love the expression. It says so much. Thanks.
OK Mona – Here is my postable comment… can’t work your wordpress system
“I rail against hate, inefficient government and I want the people we elect to do the nation’s business to observe a morality that includes good manners and “the Golden Rule”. They should live with our healthcare and retirement perameters and remember they have been elected to protect we the citizens of this great country.

Hi Pat,
It looks like you handled the system just fine. Thanks for reading and commenting. I so agree with you.
Really liked this one – and agree 100% with all. I’m just not as articulate as you and loved the way you expressed yourself. XOXOX Rennie
Thanks, Rennie. You are always there — in many ways.
Love it, love it, love it!!!
Somehow I knew you would, Pam. Thanks.
wouldn’t it be wonderful to live in a christian based world? This is what God allows, freedom of choice, but with this small favor, there are huge penalties for not making the godly choice. I am guilty, we are all guilty, but i would love to live in a world as simple as in the beginning of Adam and Eve, just to see and experience the innocence and beauty of God
Thanks, Terry. It certainly would be nice at least to visit Eden. (I guess a Christian based world would begin with Judaism.)
i understand
Hi, Mona, This is Michelle Bachman again. I had to look up the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution. You see, I graduated from the law school at Oral Roberts University. They don’t teach that stuff there. On everything else, I have to say…with Rush…and all the boys…you’re just wrong, wrong, wrong. There should be no choice for women, women shouldn’t even vote (strike that!), everyone should have a gun, our military deserves our unconditional support (except for the Commander-in-Chief), and church and state should not be separated (as long as its my church that’s running the state). And, as for the environment and climate change, they’re just hoaxes cooked up by Marxist Muslims. As a Ph.D., you should know better. If you;d gone to Oral Roberts or Liberty Univesity, you would know the real truth, but you probably went to schools that were accredited. My assistant, Roy Cohn, will be in touch with you and that Stewart guy with summonses to appear before the House Un-American Acitivities Committee.
I can hardly wait to hear from Roy. I guess you are keeping him very busy running around cleaning up after you.
Roy is his own man. He’s still living in the ’50s. He doesn’t need me to tell him to go on a witch hunt. He’ll always be Joe’s man. – Michelle
Good for you Mona——I guess we are cousins because we think alike!!!!!!!
Joy
Joy! Joy! Joy! How great to hear from you — and to know we think alike!
Mona, You’re definitely my kind of woman!! Some of us “have come a long way, Baby”!!! Dar
I’ll always wonder what gave you the clue in the first place. And thanks for this comment!
I’m with you on most things except the death penalty. I think when there is DNA evidence I don’t want to pay for them to be in prison maybe 50 years. If there is not DNA evidence then I think we have to forgo the death penalty. Too many people are being freed after DNA shows they are innocence. But I love you anyway.
I think if you check the data, the death penalty is more expensive than life in prison. My position, though, is that I do not want to be a killer. And of course I love you too.
